ABOUT RON
Ron was born in Chicago and lives on the Northside in Rogers Park. He is a graduate of Columbia College and served in Vietnam in 1969-1970. Ron married Ann Buck in 1974. They have two children and four grandchildren.
Schramm is a professional photographer with an interest in history and architecture, both of which are the subjects of his photography. "With Chicago's mix of brawn and beauty and its unique location on an inland sea, I have an unequaled selection of unique world-class buildings. My photographs of Chicago and its architecture are taken in a studied way." By that Schramm means he has spent most of his professional life looking for vantage points from that point photographing Chicago architecture when optimum conditions occur. His search for vantage points keeps him bust year-round. He has conducted a seminar for architectual students attending the American Institute of Architects Forum in Chicago focusing on "vantage point".
Schramm's devotion to Chicago has produced visual images that have been used in his own book, advertising, television, architectual, product. As a commercial photographer, he has provided images for corporate clients, including CBS/Chicago, LaSalle Bank, United Airlines, University of Chicago, WBBM-TV, Opus North, Skidmore/Owings/Merrill and the city of Chicago.
